We believe that the right teacher makes all the difference. California Teacher Corps teachers are the right teacher.

The California Teacher Corps formed in 2009 to meet the future demand for teachers in California's high-need public schools, as well the critical need for math, science and special education teachers. Through approximately 70 alternative route to certification programs, the Teacher Corps recruits talented second-career professionals and content experts to serve in the classroom where they are needed the most.

Since our inception, we have:

• Recruited over 55,000 highly skilled teachers and placed them in underserved communities across the state
• Retrained 1,500 laid-off teachers into high-need special education teaching positions
• Recruited and placed 1,300 math and science teachers to help fill shortages for school districts
• Increased the diversity of our teaching corps by recruiting more than 50 percent under-represented minorities into the profession
• Assisted rural school districts in recruiting teachers directly from their own communities to fill hard-to-staff teaching positions

Our teachers are passionate, highly-qualified and committed to staying in the teaching profession. There are countless more talented professionals who possess this same desire to serve our children.

It is our mission to ensure they find a pathway into the classroom through a Teacher Corps program.

We will continue to provide a unified voice for alternative route to certification programs, helping to strengthen and grow programs where they are needed in California.
